66.5°N · a computer club under living lights

CTRL ZONE PC CLUB — a computer club with 32 gaming stations under a living aurora ceiling

Thirty-two stations sit in quiet rows while a slow northern light drifts across the ceiling above them. The sky is only weather here: it never glares on a monitor, never flickers, never rushes you. Come for the hardware, stay for the calm.

Stations under the sky

Thirty-two seats, three shapes of desk. Every station runs the same class of hardware; you choose how you want to sit under the light. Book a single row seat, a domed corner or a shared desk — the ceiling reaches all of them.

North rows · 20 stations

Twenty seats in four tidy rows, facing away from the brightest part of the ceiling so the glow stays behind your screen. This is the everyday hall — steady, quiet, easy to drop into for an hour after work.

  • 240Hz flat panels
  • Wired peripherals
  • Focus mode by default

Zenith corner · 6 stations

Six of our best-tuned rigs sit directly under the dome, where the aurora is widest. Curved panels, deeper desks and a little more space between chairs. The most-booked corner on winter nights — reserve ahead.

  • Curved 240Hz panels
  • Extra desk depth
  • Bookable in advance

Duo desks · 6 stations

Three shared desks, two seats each, angled so friends face the same slice of sky. Good for co-op nights, teaching a newcomer the ropes, or simply sitting beside someone while you each play your own thing.

  • Paired seating
  • Shared under-desk light
  • Same 240Hz spec

66.5°N · the living ceiling

The Sky

The ceiling is one long LED field that runs a slow northern light from end to end. Two colours drift across it — a signal green and a soft violet — folding over each other on independent phases so no two minutes look the same. It moves at roughly the pace of real clouds, so your eye reads it as weather, not as a screen.

We measured the glow at every row. On monitors, the reflected light sits below the brightness of a typical desk lamp, and the panel angle keeps the brightest band above your sightline. The result: you can see the sky drift at the edge of vision, and still read a dark scene on your screen without a single wash-out.

Three modes shape the room. Focus dims and slows the light for match nights. Calm is the everyday setting. Night deepens the violet after midnight. Try the switch — it retints the ribbons across this whole page.

Sky mode · calm

Focus is quieter and dimmer; calm is the daily balance; night pulls the light deeper. The switch changes the aurora ribbons everywhere on this page — the ceiling in the club works the same way.

Hardware, seen in plain light

The sky is the mood; the machines are the point. Here is every station stripped of the glow, so you know exactly what you sit down to. One spec across the club — no better and worse seats, only different shapes.

Graphics

Current-generation cards rated for high-refresh play at 1440p, refreshed on a rolling schedule so no rig falls a full generation behind.

240Hz panels

Every seat runs a 240Hz display — flat in the rows, curved at Zenith. Low-latency mode on by default, colour-checked monthly.

Chairs

Adjustable mesh chairs with lumbar support, wiped between sessions. Duo desks share a wider footrest for longer co-op sits.

Headsets

Wired closed-back headsets with a boom mic at every seat, cleaned nightly. Bring your own if you prefer — every station has a standard jack and USB.

66.5°N · time under the light

Rates

You pay for time, not for the sky — every mode is included in every seat. Pick a block that fits your evening. Longer blocks cost less per hour, and the polar-night pass runs you clear through to morning.

66.5°N · from the log

Sky journal

  1. We added a calm mode

Focus was too dim for casual nights and night felt too deep before midnight. So we tuned a middle setting: slow drift, gentle green, violet held back. Calm is now the default the moment the doors open, and it is the mode most of you never bother to change.

  2. Glare re-checked after the panel upgrade

When the rows moved to 240Hz displays we re-measured reflected light at every seat. Two stations near the dome read a touch high, so we tilted the ceiling field a few degrees away from them. Reflections now sit below a desk lamp at all thirty-two seats.

  3. Winter solstice ran full

Our longest-night session filled every seat by nine. Night mode held the deep violet sky from midnight to close, the hall stayed quiet, and the Zenith corner was booked out a week ahead. We are keeping the solstice on the calendar every year.

66.5°N · three steps to a seat

Book in three steps

Holding a station takes about a minute. There is no account to make and nothing to pay before you arrive — you tell us when and where, we set your sky, and the seat is yours when you walk in.

  1. Pick your seat and block

Choose a North row, the Zenith corner or a Duo desk, then the block that fits your evening — a single hour, a five-hour evening, or the polar-night pass through to morning. Every seat runs the same class of rig, so pick by the shape of sit you want, not by spec.

  2. Send the form below

Add your name, a date and an email so we can confirm. It takes one screen and no card. Zenith fills first on weekends and long winter nights, so send it a few days ahead for the dome; the rows and Duo desks usually keep walk-in room.

  3. Arrive to your set sky

We hold the seat and tune the ceiling to the mode that suits your block — calm for the evening, night after midnight, focus for match runs. Bring your own headset or peripherals if you like, sit down, and start whenever you are ready.

66.5°N · the people in the rows

Regulars corner

The club is quiet by design, but it is far from empty. These are a few of the players who keep the same seat warm week after week — the co-op pairs, the solo night owls, the newcomers who stayed.

Between rounds at a North row · sky mode calm

“I come in after work, take a row seat, and let the ceiling do its slow thing while I play. It is the only room I know where the light actually helps my eyes instead of fighting them.”

Mara · North rows, most weeknights

“We book a Duo desk every Friday for co-op. Same slice of sky, two chairs, one long run at whatever we are into that month. The staff always have night mode ready by the time we sit down.”

Polar FAQ

Does the ceiling light get in the way of the screen?

No — that was the first thing we designed around. We measured reflected light at every seat, and the glow on your monitor sits below the brightness of a typical desk lamp. The brightest band of the aurora stays above your sightline, and if you want it even quieter, focus mode dims and slows the whole field for you.

Is the moving light safe if I'm sensitive to flicker?

The sky moves at roughly the pace of real clouds. There are no flashes, no strobing and no sudden jumps — the two colours simply fold over each other on slow, independent phases. If any motion bothers you, focus mode slows it further, and a member of staff can hold a single steady tone over your row on request.

How do I reserve a Zenith station?

Use the booking form below and choose Zenith as your spot. The six dome seats are our most-requested on weekends and winter nights, so book a few days ahead for those. North rows and Duo desks usually have walk-in space, but a booking still guarantees your seat and mode.

What are the polar-night hours?

The polar-night pass runs from midnight straight through to morning at one flat rate. The hall switches to night mode, the sky deepens to violet, and there are fewer walk-ins, so it is the quietest, most focused block we run. Pair it with a Zenith seat for the best of the ceiling.

Can I bring my own keyboard, mouse or headset?

Yes. Every station has standard USB ports and a headset jack, so your own peripherals plug straight in. Our wired gear is cleaned nightly if you would rather travel light. Please leave desktops and monitors at home — the rigs and 240Hz panels are ours to keep tuned.
